There is a Montgomeryshire Wildlife Trust reserve (Pwll Penarth) 10 minutes walk from the cabins, with several bird hides on a lake, and running alongside the River Severn.  The trust has lots of other nature reserves in the area too, and ind the summer you can watch ospreys at the Cors Dyfi Osprey Project

There are lots of castles and gardens to visit in the area.  It’s possible to walk to the ruins of Dolforwyn Castle, or visit the grand building and gardens of Powis Castle, managed by the National Trust.

The nearby impressive Gregynog Hall is nearby at Tregynon, with extensive parklands and woods, and a cafe.  Good for walking and family cycling.

Some lovely days out at Elan Valley, driving, cycling or walking around the lakes and dams,  and also Lake Vyrnwy, which is possible to walk or cycle round, or walk up to the waterfalls and birdwatching.
